National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 2005 records indicate that dryers and washing machines were involved in one out of every 21 home structure fires reported to U.S. fire departments. These fires resulted in $207 million of direct property damage, over 400 injuries and 14 deaths. The number one cause? Failure to clean lint build-up in filters and remove accumulated lint around the drum.
